Originally founded in 2015 the Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association has grown from a handful of members in Ontario in the early days, to hundreds of members from all over Canada, the United States and now the world. 

Our goals are simple when it comes to Dinghy Cruising - we exist to do 5 things - Communicate, Motivate, Educate, Co-ordinate and Participate.

1) Communicate - through our very active Facebook Group we have a place for small boat cruisers to gather, ask questions, discuss cruising locations, and find other local cruisers to meet up with - a true home for the Dinghy Cruiser.

2) Motivate - we want to motivate more small boat sailors to become small boat cruisers! There are so many great small boats out there that sailors could be enjoying the cruising life in. Through the discussions, trip logs, videos etc that our members post, we hope to show more sailors what is possible when it comes to small boat adventure.

3) Educate - For someone just getting started it can seem a bit overwhelming. What do I need? Where should I go? How do I learn the skills necessary? Well it's easier than you think - especially when you have the experience of a group like Can-Am behind you. We encourage members to come out on trips - a lot of great experience can be gained in just one or two adventures. Further we have checklists, videos, podcasts and posts all provided by members to help out. Can-Am members are always there to help each other

4) Co-ordinate - A big part of a group like this is the co-ordination of events. Pre-planning a calendar is the best way to ensure you get the most out of your local sailing season. Every year during the off-season we get together with our local fleets and plan out our events. Further, Can-Am also helps co-ordinate the formation of new local fleets. We continually update our membership list to help local dinghy cruisers find each other and start their own fleets!

5) Participate - last but certainly not least we are about being active! We aren't just another Facebook group where people just chat about a topic. We are a very active dinghy cruising group. Have a look at our "Events" page and you'll get an idea of the number and types of trips we do every year. With all the new fleets we've set up this year, next year will definitely be our busiest season yet and will be spread out into many more areas! Lots of members travel from one fleet's events to others - seeing completely new cruising grounds and meeting up in person with members they already know quite well online!
